methylmalonyl coenzyme A

Methylmalonyl-CoA is formed from propionyl CoA in a reaction catalyzed by propionyl CoA carboxylase. Methylmalonyl-CoA feeds into the citric acid cycle via conversion to succinyl CoA catalyzed by methylmalonyl CoA mutase, one of 2 mammalian enzymes using vitamin B12 as a cofactor.
