methylcobalamin (vitamin B12)

Methylcobalamin the cofactor of methionine synthase (homocysteine methyltransferase, a methylcobalamin & N5-methyltetrahydrofolate- dependent enzyme. In connection with 5,10 methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase activity which generates 5-methyltetrahydrofolate, methionine synthase regulates methionine synthesis & tetrahydrofolate generation. The availability of tetrahydrofolate is critical to DNA & RNA generation.
