1) prosencephalon (forebrain)
2) mesencephalon (midbrain)
3) rhombencephalon (hindbrain)
Structure:
The mesenencephalon consists of the:
1) tectum mesencephali (corpora quadrigemini)
2) tegmentum mesencephali
3) crus cerebri
4) cerebral aqueduct
5) periaqueductal gray matter
6) nuclei
a) trochlear nucleus
b) oculomotor nucleus
c) Edinger-Westphal nucleus
d) red nucleus
e) substantia nigra
