- NF2 gene & SIS proto-oncogene implicated
- chromosome 1p, 6q, 9q, 10q, 14q, 17p, 18p loss often in atypical meningiomas
- chromosome 6q,9p 10 and 14q more frequently loss in anaplastic meningiomas
- meningiomas are associated with defects in MN1
- other implicated genes
