Origin: - Nerve root: brachial plexus (C6-T1) Efferents: 1) muscles of the forearm a) all, EXCEPT 1] flexor carpi ulnaris 2] ulnar 1/2 of flexor digitorum profundus b) action 1] abduction of wrist 2] pronation of hand 3] radial flexion 2) muscles of the hand a) thenar muscles, EXCEPT 1] adductor pollicis 2] deep head of flexor pollicis brevis b) action 1] opposition of thumb 2] flexion of index & middle fingers 3] abductor pollicis brevis 4] flexor pollicis brevis Afferents: - sensory - 1st 3 1/2 fingers - thumb - index finger - middle finger - 1/2 of ring finger Pathology: - injury: a) brachial plexus b) elbow c) carpal tunnel syndrome
