meclofenoxate (Centrophenoxine, Lucidril)
Tradenames: Centrophenoxine, Lucidril.
Uses:
- treatment of symptoms of senile dementia & Alzheimer's Disease
- used off-label as a as a nootropic, often combined with a racetam drug such as piracetam
Contraindications:
- severely high blood pressure
- epilepsy, seizures
Dosage:
- 250-3,000 mg/day taken in 1 or more doses
Adverse effects:
- generally considered safe
- possible side effects may include nausea or mild dizziness
- large doses may cause tight jaw clenching.
Mechanism of action:
- contains two biochemicals:
a) dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE)
b) parachlorophenoxyacetate (pCPA)
- synthetic compound that resembles a variety of plant hormones called auxins
