C-C motif chemokine 28; mucosae-associated epithelial chemokine; MEC; protein CCK1; small-inducible cytokine A28 (CCL28, SCYA28)
Function:
- chemotactic activity for resting CD4 cells, CD8 T-cells & eosinophils
- binds to CCR3 & CCR10 & induces Ca+2 mobilization (dose-dependent)
Structure:
- belongs to the intercrine beta (chemokine CC) family
Compartment: secreted
Expression:
- preferentially expressed by epithelial cells of diverse tissues including normal & pathological colon, salivary gland, mammary gland, trachea & rectum
- also found in prostate, spleen, thyroid, psoriasis skin & in lower levels in peripheral blood leukocytes, small intestine, Peyer patches, stomach & normal skin
