microtubule-associated protein RP/EB family member 1 (APC-binding protein EB1, end-binding protein 1, EB1, MAPRE1)

Function: 1) role in microtubule polymerization & spindle function by stabilizing microtubules & anchoring them at centrosomes 2) role in cell migration (putative) 3) interacts with DCTN1, DCTN2, DIAPH1, DIAPH2, TERF1 & dynein intermediate chain 4) binds to C-terminal domain of APC 5) interacts with CLASP1 & CLASP2 Structure: 1) homodimer 2) composed of two functionally independent domain - N-terminal domain forms an hydrophobic cleft involved in microtubule binding - C-terminal domain is involved in the formation of mutually exclusive complexes with APC & DCTN1 3) belongs to the MAPRE family 4) contains 1 CH domain (calponin-homology domain - contains 1 EB1 C-terminal domain Compartment: - cytoplasm - associated with microtubule network at the growing distal tip of microtubules. - also enriched at the centrosome
