Mansonia
A genus of brown-black medium size mosquitoes often having a banded abdomen & legs. Mansonia larvae have modified breathing tubes enabling them to pierce aquatic tubes to obtain air.
Distribution: worldwide, especially in tropical areas Mansonia species are vectors of Brugia malayi & Wuchereria bancrofti.
