Etiology: - augmented arterial flow through engorged breasts Epidemiology: - becomes audible during 3rd trimester of pregnancy or in the early postpartum period Clinical manifestations: 1) continuous murmur on auscultation of the heart 2) firm pressure with the diaphragm of the stethoscope can eliminate the diastolic portion of the murmur 3) the murmur dissipates with time after delivery
