Etiology:
- external rotation of the lower leg
Pathology:
- fracture of the proximal third of the fibula associated with tear of the distal tibiofibular syndesmosis & the interosseous membrane
- associated fracture of the medial malleolus or rupture of the deep deltoid ligament
