magenblase (gastric blubble) syndrome
Etiology:
- aerophagia
Pathology:
1) air trapping in the gastric fundus below the gastroesophageal junction by fluid
2) occurs in association with aerophagia when the patient lies supine after a large meal
3) gas becomes trapped in the gastric fundus, unable to be belched because of fluid between the gas & the lower esophageal sphincter
Clinical manifestations:
- postprandial fullness/discomfort/pressure
Radiology:
- X-ray shows air in the gastric fundus
