multicenter automatic defibrillator implantation trial (MADIT)
Indications:
- implantable cardiac defibrillators may improve survival in a selected patient population* at high risk for sudden death.
* Selection criteria:
- myocardial infarction
- left ventricular ejection fraction < 35%
- non-sustained ventricular tachycardia
- electrophysiologically-induced sustained monomorphic ventricular tachycardia not suppressed by procainamide
