A small break in the macula retinae
Etiology:
- vitreous detachment
Epidemiology: people over 60
Clinical manifestations:
- blurred vision & disorted central vision
Special laboratory:
- ophthalmoscopy
* see retinal hole for image of outer retinal hole
Complications:
- increased risk of cataracts following vitrectomy
Management:
1) some will seal themselves
2) surgery: vitrectomy
