1) vitamin B12 deficiency
2) folate deficiency
3) alcoholism
4) liver disease
5) hypothyroidism
6) reticulocytosis
7) myelodysplasia
8) pregnancy
9) pharmaceutical agents:
a) nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor
b) hydroxyurea (ribonucleotide reductase inhibitor) [3]
