Indications: - evaluation of acute monocytic leukemia & to a lesser extent acute myelomonocytic leukemia Reference interval: - < 4 ug/mL (urine) Increases: 1) large increases (serum, urine) - acute monocytic leukemia - acute myelomonocytic leukemia - proximal renal tubule damage (urine only) 2) moderate increases (serum, urine) - chronic myelocytic leukemia - polycythemia vera - renal failure - tuberculosis - sarcoidosis - megaloblastic anemia - Crohn's disease - ulcerative colitis - acute bacterial infection Decreases: - neutropenia with bone marrow suppression
