Tradename: Lysodren.
Indications:
- treatment of inoperable adrenal cortical carcinoma
- Cushing's syndrome [3]
Contraindications: Caution:
- may impair ability to drive or operate hazardous equipment
Dosage: Tabs: 500 mg
Storage: Protect from light
Adverse effects:
1) common (> 10%)
- diarrhea, hyperpigmentation, anorexia, depression, dizziness
2) less common (1-10%)
- double vision, blurred vision, hemorrhagic cystitis, orthostatic hypotension, myalgia, fever, flushing of skin
3) uncommon (< 1%)
- shortness of breath, wheezing, lethargy, somnolence, irritability, confusion, tremors, weakness, fatigue, headache, rash, nausea/vomiting
Drug interactions:
1) barbiturates
2) warfarin
3) phenytoin
4) CNS depressants
Test interactions: increases serum K+
Mechanism of action: adrenocortical suppression
