Ly6/PLAUR domain-containing protein 3 (GPI-anchored metastasis-associated protein C4.4A homolog, matrigel-induced gene C4 protein, MIG-C4, LYPD3, C44A, UNQ491/PRO1007)
Function:
1) supports cell migration
2) role in urothelial cell-matrix interactions (putative)
3) binds laminin-1 & laminin-5
4) interacts with LGALS3, AGR2 & AGR3
Structure:
- N-glycosylated & O-glycosylated
- contains 2 UPAR/Ly6 domains Mass Spectroscopy: MW=21442.9
Compartment: cell membrane, GPI-anchor
Expression:
- expressed in placenta, skin & urothelium
- found in suprabasal keratinocytes of chronic wounds
- weak expression in esophagus & peripheral blood mononuclear cells
- up-regulated in migrating keratinocytes during epithelization of incisional skin wounds.
Pathology:
- role in tumor progression (putative)
- found in the majority of primary & metastatic transitional cell carcinomas & breast cancers, but not in adjacent normal tissues
- high expression in the tumor component of some noninvasive superficial lesions & in invasive & metastatic urothelial cancers
