See choriomeningitis. Epidemiology: 1) young adults 2) occurs in winter & fall 3) due to virus carried by common house mouse Laboratory: - detection of LCMV nucleic acids in the CSF during the acute stage (1st 2 weeks( - ELISA) for LCMV available only at Centers for Disease Control & Prevention - serologic testing by commercial laboratories has a lower sensitivity than ELISA for the detection of LCMV. - see ARUP consult [3] Management: - supportive care
