Lybrel (ethinyl estradiol, levonorgestrel)
Indications:
- oral contraceptive (no scheduled periods) possibly a lower incidence of PMS, headaches, & anemia
Dosage: 1 pill QD for 1 year or longer
ethinyl estradiol 20 mcg
levonorgestrel 90 mcg
Adverse effects:
- possibly a lower incidence of PMS, headaches, & anemia
- breakthrough bleeding (50% during 1st 3 months) diminishes with continued use
- otherwise adverse effects similar to other oral contraceptives
