lumbosacral radiculoplexus neuropathy

Etiology: - diabetic amyotrophy (2/3) Epidemiology: - 4 cases per 100,000 population Pathology: - microvasculitis with ischemic nerve injury involving the lumbosacral plexus & nerve roots Clinical manifestations: - acute or subacute painful neuropathy - painful lower-extremity presentations & muscle weakness - a few cases sensory-predominant - generally unilateral: asymmetric when bilateral - generally proximal > distal (sometimes both) - cervical or thoracic involvement also may occur

Specific

diabetic amyotrophy/lumbar polyradiculopathy; diabetic lumbosacral radiculoplexus neuropathy (DLRPN)

General

sciatica; lumbosacral radiculopathy; sciatic neuropathy lumbosacral plexopathy
