Function: - motor function - L1-L2: hip flexion - L3-L4: hip adduction - L5: hallux dorsiflexion - sensory function - L4: dorsomedial foot - L5: dorsal foot Structure: - nerves emerging from the lumbar spinal cord (L1-L5) - the nerves exit the intervertebral foramen below the corresponding lumbar vertebrae - L1-L4 enter into formation of the lumbar plexus - L4 & L5 enter into formation of the sacral plexus
