Classification:
- syncope is transient loss of consciousness
- consciousness is lost during seizure
- coma is a prolonged loss of consciousness
Differential diagnosis:
- seizure (epilepsy)
- syncope
- cataplexy (no loss of consciousness)
* information from observers can contribute in differentiating epilepsy from syncope or psychogenic seizure [2]
