Origin: 1) dorsal vein of the great toe 2) dorsal veinous arch of the foot Empties into: -> femoral vein anteriorly just inferior to the inguinal canal Course: 1) superficial vein in the medial aspect of leg 2) originates in the foot anterior to the medial malleolus 3) runs up the medial aspect of the leg Pathology: - valvular incompetence with retrograde venous flow resulting in venous stasis
