LIM/homeobox protein LHX1; LIM homeobox protein 1; homeobox protein Lim-1; hLim-1 (LHX1, LIM1)

Function: - transcription factor (putative) - may play a role in early mesoderm formation & later in lateral mesoderm differentiation & neurogenesis - interacts with LDB1 via the tandem LIM domains Structure: - the LIM domains exert a negative regulatory function; disruption of the LIM domains produces an activated form - 2 activation domains & a negative regulatory domain exist C-terminal to the homeobox (putative) - contains 1 homeobox DNA-binding domain - contains 2 LIM Zn+2-binding domains Compartment: nucleus (probable) Expression: - expressed in brain, thymus, & tonsils Pathology: - expressed in leukocytes in chronic myeloid leukemia - expressed in 58% of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cell lines
