Function: 1) galactose-specific lectin which binds IgE 2) in conjunction with alpha-3, beta-1 integrin & CSPG4, may facilitate endothelial cell migration 3) together with DMBT1, required for terminal differentiation of columnar epithelial cells during early embryogenesis (putative) 3) forms a complex with ITGA3, ITGB1 & CSPG4 4) interacts with LGALS3BP, LYPD3, UACA & CYHR1 5) probably forms homodimers or heterodimers Structure: contains 1 galectin domain Compartment: - nucleus - cytoplasmic in adenomas & carcinomas - may be secreted by a non-classical secretory pathway & associate with cell surface Expression: - expressed in colonic epithelium & activated macrophages
