Leydig (hilus) cell tumor

Epidemiology: - ~ 15% of steroid cell tumors Pathology: - ~1-15 cm diameter - well circumscribed - often hemorrhagic Microscopic pathology: - Reinke's crystalloids - sheets/cords/nests - uniform rounded or polyhedral cells - large central nuclei, prominant nucleolus - finely granular eosinophilic cytoplasm, may have vacuoles - fibrinoid degeneration of large blood vessels Clinical manifestations: - hirsutism and virilism in ~80% - occasionally estrogenic manifestations
