Contraindications:
- of no benefit for sepsis
- no benefits for elderly at risk for low cardiac output syndrome following cardiac bypass surgery [3] or cardiac surgery in general [4]
* may diminish likelihood of successful weaning from ventilator
Dosage:
- 0.05 to 0.2 ug/kg/min
Mechanism of action:
- inotrope & calcium-sensitizing drug
- appears to increase myofilament calcium sensitivity by binding to cardiac troponin C (Ca+2-dependent) [2]
