The generic term for the sustained change in behavior that occurs in response to experiences or practice.
Stages of learning:
1) perception
2) encoding
3) storage or consolidation
All 3 stages are needed for new long-term memory.
Long-term potentiation (LTP) may form the basis of associative learning (memory).
Pathology:
- mental exercise may counteracting tendency toward atrophy with age [2]
Notes:
- testing enhances learning through consolidation of retrieval processes linked with information storage [3]
