Pathology: 1) large cells 2) grows faster than adenocarcinoma 3) brain metastases (28%) Clinical manifestations: 1) clubbing 2) hypertrophic pulmonary osteoarthropathy Laboratory: 1) serum calcium: hypercalcemia (13%) 2) increased secretion of hCG, LH & FSH may occur - serum chorionic gonadotropin - serum luteining hormone - serum follicle-stimulating hormone Radiology: - chest X-ray a) large masses b) cavitation (20-25%) Management: 1) surgery 2) response to radiation & chemotherapy is poor
