jejunostomy
Indications:
-> long-term enteral feedings
a) impaired gastric emptying
b) requires continuous drip with pump
Procedure:
1) percutaneous placement endoscopically or radiographically via pylorus or surgically into the jejunum
2) sutured into the abdominal wall using fine-bore tube or larger tube
Complications:
1) clogging or displacement of tube
2) jejunal fistula if large-bore tube used
3) diarrhea
4) peritonitis
5) GI bleed
6) ileus
7) bowel obstruction
8) bowel perforation
