intravenous (IV) extravasation

Management: - hyaluronidase a) reconstitute 150 unit vial of lyophylized powder with 1 mL of normal saline b) take 0.1 mL of this solution & dilute with 0.9 mL of normal saline to yield 15 units/mL c) five 0.2 mL injections are made SC or intradermally into the extravasation site at the leading edge using a 25 or 26 gauge needle d) change needle after each injection e) apply heat immediately for 1 hour f) repeat 4 times/day for 3-5 days
