Function: - associates with integrin beta-7 (integrin alpha-E/beta-7) Structure: - composed of an heavy & a light chains linked by a disulfide bond - the integrin I-domain (insert) is a VWFA domain - integrins with I-domains do not undergo protease cleavage - belongs to the integrin alpha chain family - contains 5 FG-GAP repeats - contains 1 VWFA domain Compartment: membrane Expression: - expressed on a subclass of T-lymphocytes known as intra-epithelial lymphocytes which are located between mucosal epithelial cells Pathology: - hairy cell leukemia - AML - enteropathy-associated T cell lymphomas - adult HTLV-1 associated T cell leukemia
