Local anemia resulting from hypoperfusion.
Etiology:
- mechanical obstruction (mainly arterial narrowing) of the blood supply
Clinical manifestations:
1) severe pain in occluded vascular territory*
2) livedo reticularis
3) pallor
Radiology:
-> angiography is therapeutic procedure considered
* No sensation within the CNS, thus cerebral ischemia is painless
