Genetics:
- associated with defects in SCN1A
Clinical manifestations:
- generalized tonic-clonic seizures beginning usually in infancy & induced by fever
- seizures are associated with subsequent mental decline & ataxia or hypotonia
- ICEGTC is similar to SMEI, except for the absence of myoclonic seizures
