intervertebral disk
A disk between adjacent vertebrae, consisting of:
1) anulus fibrosis (an outer fibrous part)
2) nucleus pulposus (a soft fibrocartilagenous central part)
There is no IV disc between C1 & C2 vertebrae. The most inferior functional disc is between L5 & S1 vertebrae.
