internal hordeolum

An internal hordeolum is an infection of the meibomian gland of the eye with staphylococcus. Clinical manifestations: 1) Symptoms: pain on inner eyelid, photophobia, lacrimation 2) Signs: tenderness, pustule under conjunctiva of inner eyelid. Management: 1) topical antibiotics a) erythromycin ophthalmic b) bacitracin ointment 2) incision & drainage
