Synthetic proinsulin with more rapid onset & shorter duration of action than regular insulin, similar to insulin lispro. Dosage: -> may mix with NPH, but not other insulins Pharmacokinetics: -> absorbed faster after SQ injection than insulin, but slightly slower than Humalog Mechanism of action: -> 1 lysine & 1 proline residue of insulin substituted with aspartate residue [2] Notes: Novo Nordisk manufacturer.
