inosine

Purine ribonucleoside & neurotransmitter. Inosine increases axon growth of neurons distant to a stroke in the direction of the denervated areas of midbrain & spinal cord in a rat model. Inosine treatment also improved motor performance in rat with surgically-induced stroke within 19 days.
