implanted ECG recorder; implantable loop monitor (LINQ)

Indications: - infrequent asymptomatic or symptomatic cardiac arrhythmias - increased diagnosis of atrial fibrillation & anticoagulation - no reduction in stroke [2] Advantages: 1) long-term continuous ECG monitoring 2) specific heart rate or QRS parameters can be set to initiate recording of data 3) data may be sent to cardiologist (or manufacturer) Disadvantages: 1) invasive procedure with some risk 2) device must be explanted later
