insulin-like growth factor [IGF]-2 receptor (CD222, somatomedin MSA receptor, cation-independent mannose-6-phosphate receptor, MPR 300, CI-MPR, M6PR, MPRI, IGF2R)

Function: - binds IGF2 - as receptor for IGF2, may play a role in consolidation & reconsolidation of memories - transport of phosphorylated lysosomal enzymes from the Golgi & the cell surface to lysosomes - lysosomal enzymes bearing phosphomannosyl residues bind specifically to mannose-6-phosphate receptors in the Golgi & the resulting receptor-ligand complex is transported to an acidic prelyosomal compartment where the low pH mediates the dissociation of the complex - positive regulator of T-cell coactivation by binding DPP4 - also binds GGA1, GGA2 & GGA3 Structure: - contains 15 repeating units of approximately 147 AA - the most highly conserved region within the repeat consists of a stretch of 13 AA that contains Cys at both ends - belongs to the MRL1/IGF2R family - contains 1 fibronectin type-2 domain Compartment: - lysosome membrane - colocalizes with DPP4 in internalized cytoplasmic vesicles adjacent to cell surface
