Pathology: - subcorneal neutrophils - epidermal acantholysis - tissue-bound & circulating IgA autoantibodies that target desmosomal proteins - deposits of intercellular IgA at epidermal surfaces * histopathology images [2] Clinical manifestations: - vesiculopustular eruption - formation of clear blisters that rapidly become pustules - distribution: - trunk & proximal extremities - relative sparing of mucous membranes Laboratory: - direct immunofluorescence Differential diagnosis: - linear IgA bullous dermatosis (IgA pemphigoid)
