immunoglobulin-A (IgA)

IgA is the dominant immunoglobulin of the mucosal immune system providing the main defense for mucosal surfaces. IgA is made in lymphoid tissues that are proximal to mucosa-bearing organs & is transported onto mucosal surfaces. IgA molecules in blood are not secreted onto mucosal surfaces. Laboratory: - IgA in skin - IgA in body fluid - IgA in CSF - IgA in peritoneal fluid - IgA in saliva - IgA in serum - IgA in urine - IgA secretory in body fluid - IgA secretory in saliva - IgA secretory in serum/plasma - IgA secretory in sweat - IgA secretory in tears - IgA monoclonal in CSF - IgA monoclonal in serum
