The most frequent cause of hypothyroidism in the US. Etiology: blocking antibodies against TSH receptor Genetics: association with HLA-DR3 & HLA-B8. Management: - thyroxine (thyroid hormone replacement) Prognosis: - auto-antibody may disappear spontaneously or with treatment
