hyporeninemic hypoaldosteronism
Etiology:
- association with renal tubular acidosis (RTA) IV
Epidemiology:
1) occurs in middle-aged to elderly patients with mild to moderate renal insufficiency
2) half of patients are diabetic
Laboratory:
- renin & aldosterone secretion stimulated by salt deprivation or furosemide administration is are blunted
Management:
- fludrocortisone
