Diminished color. Tissue staining in less than the normal amount of pigment. Clinical significance: - frequently used in reference to appearance of erythrocytes stained with Wright's stain, viewed under the microscope - erythrocyte hypochromia is characteristic of diminished erythrocyte hemoglobin & hypochromic anemia
