heat shock protein 105 kD; heat shock 110 kD protein; antigen NY-CO-25 (HSPH1, HSP105, HSP110, KIAA0201)

Function: - prevents aggregation of denatured proteins in cells under severe stress, on which the ATP levels decrease markedly - inhibits HSPA8/HSC70 ATPase & chaperone activities - phosphorylation on Ser-509 may be important for regulation of the HSPA8/HSC70 chaperone activity (putative) - interacts with HSPA8/HSC70 (putative) Structure: belongs to the heat shock protein 70 family Compartment: cytoplasm Alternative splicing: named isoforms=3; alpha, beta Expression: - highly expressed in testis - low expression in most brain regions - not expressed in cerebellum Pathology: - overexpressed in cancer cells
