HIV coreceptor

Different strains of HIV-1 include M-tropic (replicates efficiently in macrophages, poorly in T-cell lines), TCL-tropic (adapted to grow in continuous T-cell lines but poorly if at all in macrophages) and dual-tropic. All are capable of growing in activated primary CD4+ T-cells. CXCR4 and CCR5 were identified as coreceptors (with CD4) for TCL-tropic and M-tropic HIV-1 strains respectively
