HIV1/HIV2 Ab differentiation assay
Indications:
- positive HIV 1+2 Ab & HIV1 p24 Ag in serum (screening test)
Clinical significance:
- distinguishes HIV1 from HIV2 or suggests false positive screening test
- positive HIV 1+2 Ab & HIV1 p24 Ag in serum
- if negative differentiation assay, suggests HIV1 p24 Ag or false positive screening test for HIV1 [1]
- a negative HIV1 nucleic acid amplification test confirms a false positive screening test for HIV1
