Kikuchi's disease (histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis)
Benign, self-limited disease of lymph nodes.
Etiology: unknown
Pathology: histiocytic, necrotizing lymphadenopathy
Clinical manifestations:
1) cervical lymphadenopathy - may be tender
2) respiratory symptoms
3) afebrile
4) splenomegaly may be present [2]
5) symptoms resolve spontaneously in 2-4 months
Diagnosis: by exclusion
Laboratory: lymph node biopsy
Management:
1) supportive, disease is self-limited
2) does NOT respond to antibiotic therapy
